There are many factors that lead to a longer lifespan. The three main
factors are genetics, health and environment. The length and health of our lives is not predictable by any means.
What we do control is how we live our lives. What we consume, how we think and behave, and our level of physical activity
are within our control. I will outline the main factors that can help to lead both a longer life and healthier life. Science is on the verge of knowing how to prevent aging. When this happens there will major
debates on the values of extending human life. What we can do as individuals is learn how to maximize our life spans by diet
and exercise. Numerous studies worldwide show that cultures with the healthiest and longest living people have diets
low in saturated fat, chemical preservatives and salt. The number one factor to prevent disease is a low fat diet. You do
not have to be a vegetarian or eat raw foods but if you can reduce the amount of fatty foods that you consume and especially
saturated fat then you are on the road to improving your health. Search the net and find a low fat diet. Educate yourself
on what foods are high in fat. Avoid fried foods whenever possible. Increase you consumption of fruits and vegetables.
Avoid tobacco products and limit your consumption of alcohol. The facts are that as large scale farms continue to take
over the agricultural productions worldwide the vitamins and mineral in our foods continues to decrease due to the use of
chemical fertilizers and foods being genetically engineered to stay preserved longer for transportations to markets. There
are many varieties of bananas but few of us ever will eat them because they are not viable for large scale production
due to the fact that they ripen very quickly. This holds true for many varieties of grains, fruits and vegetables. Vitamin
“D” deficiency is a leading factor in depression and other vitamin and mineral deficiencies lead to numerous aliments.
I have taken vitamins and mineral supplements since I
was teenager and I attribute this to maintaining good health. We have are now joined by a company that has
lead the research in this area and supplies high quality supplements in the proper dosages and even has supplements that can
help with various aliments. Everyone should start a program of taking vitamin and mineral supplements in a scientific and
focused manner. There are now very specific supplements to help with
almost any ailment you have. You can start losing weight or increase
your athletic performance within days.
Exercise is the second major factor in leading a long and healthy life. The most important type
of exercise is aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is walking, jogging, bicycling, and swimming. You need to elevate
your heart rate to 60 to 80 percent of your maximum heart rate for a period of at least 30 minutes three to four times a week.
To determine your maximum heart rate subtract your age from 220 and then figure the 60 to 80 range. Lifting weights and other
exercise will develop your muscles but will not have the same effect as prolonged aerobic exercise. Keeping your lungs
and heart healthy is a major factor in leading a long and healthy life. It all seems very simple and in a way it is but
often life throws us “road blocks” that can derail our goals and dreams. We are complex physiological beings
living in what Desmond Morris calls “The Human Zoo”. We have created laws, rules, religions and social mores
to control our animal instincts and try to separate ourselves from the rest of nature. Greed and a view of entitlement
have lead to rampant increases in lifestyles and goals of only more excess and greed. "I wanna be Billionaire!" The
reality is that we are the “human ape” only briefly in time removed from our animal backgrounds. We are all moving
through this unpredictable journey of Life on the same small blue-green planet traveling around our sun, which is traveling
around our Galaxy and if we want to extend our species we had better wake up very quickly and take care of each other and
our delicate ecosystem. Hopefully I have provided you with a few of the basic rules for living a long and
healthy life. It is important to study and research on your own. The more knowledge you gather will allow
you to make informed decisions about how you chose to live. LEARN AND EARN
